    SMALLVILLE: THE END IS HERE

    CITAZIONE
Nine years. At times it feels like forever (especially when we look at our Warner Bros. ID badges we received our first week of work and we looked like kids!) and some times it feels like it's only been a few weeks. We will probably measure all time against Smallville for the rest of our lives. As it turns out, we've started measuring a lot against Smallville. We began as wide-eyed freshman. All we could focus on was getting that first big break in television. We used to sit in the writers' room and stare at the beautiful Burbank scenery saying, "Wow, we did it. We're here." Two kids from the Midwest make good. And it was quite a ride. 9/11 had just happened. The world was looking for a hero. Superman always fits that bill. Especially when you're looking for an American hero who is just, not vengeful, home-grown and dare we say earnest.

9 anni.

    CITAZIONE
Then a decade passes. The war falls on a later page in the paper. It's easy to get buried under the thousands of decisions that go into every television season. And you can lose perspective being in such a macro world. But, coming to the end of the show this year, we were able to step back and we were moved by what we saw. In fact, we used that view to help shape the final season of Smallville:

    Hope.

    CITAZIONE
The theme this year was Believe in Heroes. They exist. And not just in red capes. And the fact that a show that's survived two networks, two time slots and four different days of the week proves that people want to be inspired. People want to put their faith in hope and their trust in humanity.

    CITAZIONE
We have been lucky. We got to sit with the writers and think about Superman every day. We got to think about what inspires us. Think about why Superman is the most recognizable character in the world. Think about the most avid fans in television and the reason they tune in every week—not only do they want to believe in good, they actually do. Someone once said that you can only truly appreciate in others what you have the potential for in yourself. Superheroes are a reflection of who we want to become. Whatever impact we've had on the Superman mythos, it pales compared to the impact the fans of Superman across the globe have had on us. It's what makes us believe there's a more peaceful future out there. Being reminded of that every week for a decade has been a gift.

    Thank you,

    Kelly and Brian

Siamo stati fortunati.

    Grazie a tutti!

    Kelly e Brian.

Saying Goodbye, Smallville! Is This The End Or Will There Be A Justice League Sequel?

With tonight’s Finale we are coming to the end of the Smallville series. It’s been a roller coaster of ups and downs. From meteorite crashes, to red kryptonite highs, to blue kryptonite lows. Smallville has developed the Clark Kent and Superman timeline in some a very unique way. Unlike the mediocre series “Lois and Clark” which was much like a failed attempt at a Superman soap-opera. Smallville has lasted, changed and transformed the Clark-Smallville character into a true “Great American Hero.”

Smallville has told the story of a very affable non-terrestrial (alien) becoming a super-hero. The portion of this super-hero saga chronicling the History of Clark and Smallville that usually was a short intro to the Superman movies has become the theme of an entire series.

Clark came to earth in a huge meteor shower of the remains of Krypton. Near the end Clark would befriend and battle the physical clones of His Kryptonian ancestors. We were able to see Clark transform from a bumbling young boy, to a confident hero, to a young man who became the leader of the Justice League. And hopefully from a blurry hero to the Superman we expect to see in today’s season finale.

We have had a chance to see an “alien” from another planet learn to master his powers, come to grasp with humanity, embrace morality and overcome the struggles of a teenage life to become a young adult who is making a difference in a grown up world.

From an X-files-esque focus on Meteor Freaks who made it to the Wall of Weird, to the budding romance with Lana, to the development and demise of the friendship between Lex Luthor and Clark, to the rise of the Justice League, we have experienced a unique ride.

Eventually Clark’s double-dealing with his birth father (Jor-el) lead to the death of the man who raised him, his adopted father Jonathan Kent. A couple of characters who were missed along the way when they left were Pete Ross and the Cyborg, whom never returned. In other exciting news Rosenbaum is returning to reprise his role as Lex in tonight’s finale.

With a few missteps such as the departure of Lex, Jonathan Kent and Lana that brought a lot of skepticism, speculation and concerns about the possible demise of the show. When Vigilante and Super-hero the Green Arrow killed Lex Luthor it was blow to the show. In the same light when Lana left it also made the show rather drab for a season. Smallville seemed to have lost its way for a segment of time there however in this final season we have seen a return to compelling storytelling and some comic book-esque elements to the Rise of Darksied, Granny Goodness and his minions.

We have seen classic villans like Zod and Super Friends like Aquaman (the “Thor” of the Justice League, son of Neptune), to Flash, the Green Arrow, and Hawk Man. Too bad we didn’t get to see a young Bruce Wayne, Batman or the Green Lantern.

Along the way we have watched Clark forge a new and different path for the super hero saga. As the show is coming to a close the focus on Clark and Lois as a couple upholding traditional values like we’ve come to expect from the Superman saga. Let’s remember the good times as we look forward to the possibilities of what could be.

One can only wonder if the tagline “the end of the beginning starts here” foreshadows what is to come. Will Smallville like Stargate SG1, the only other SciFi to last 10 Seasons, spin-off multiple additions to the Superman-Justice League story line? Speculation of a Justice League spin of has been in the air for a while now. Will the season finale bring the Justice League in for a Tour de Force?
